Mandarin Oriental Debuts Two New Hotels in London & Oman

Laura Corrigan • July 8, 2024

As a symbol of luxury and excellence in hospitality, Mandarin Oriental continues its impressive growth with the unveiling of two highly anticipated hotels this season, bringing the Group’s portfolio to 40 hotels. The newest additions to their collection, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, and Mandarin Oriental, Muscat, are set to redefine opulence and service in their respective regions. These new additions underscore the brand’s commitment to expanding its footprint while maintaining its legacy of unparalleled sophistication. Let’s explore the latest in their prestigious collection:

Mandarin Oriental, Muscat: A Debut in Oman

Mandarin Oriental’s foray into Oman is heralded by the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Muscat. Nestled in the prestigious Shatti Al-Qurum neighborhood, this urban resort boasts distinctive architecture that offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. The property includes exclusive branded residences, making it an ideal base for exploring Muscat’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant community.

Designed by renowned French interior designer Xavier Cartron, the hotel reflects the richness and diversity of Omani culture. Guests are greeted by grand Omani wooden doors, leading into a lobby adorned with three fountains and a stunning chandelier of colorful crystal lanterns. The hotel’s 103 guestrooms and 47 suites feature locally sourced materials, including Desert Rose marble and Ashwood, creating a luxurious yet authentic atmosphere.

The five distinct restaurants and lounge, led by Executive Chef Raymond Rjaily, offer a range of international cuisines. The signature restaurant, Essenza, takes guests on a culinary journey through Italy’s coastal regions, while the Mandarin Cake Shop specializes in indulgent pastries and cakes. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Muscat, combines the brand’s award-winning Asian-inspired treatments with local healing traditions, providing a holistic wellness experience.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London: A New Landmark in a Storied Neighborhood

In the heart of London, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair has officially opened its doors on historic Hanover Square. This sleek, boutique property is the Group’s second hotel in London, complementing the iconic Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners , this new build brings a modern architectural approach to one of London’s most storied squares.

The hotel’s 50 guestrooms and suites and 77 private residences have been meticulously crafted by British-based Studio Indigo , blending Mandarin Oriental’s Asian heritage with locally inspired elements. Each room is imagined as a jewelry box, with rich emerald green, regal maroon, and tranquil turquoise palettes. The public spaces, designed by Tokyo-based agency Curiosity, feature a sculptural lobby, Akira Back’s debut London restaurant, ABar Lounge, and an upcoming rooftop bar offering panoramic views of the London skyline.
